Sarah Schwarz

Sarah launched Monetta Farrier Specialties in 1986. Sarah’s community knows her as a leader and entrepreneur. She offers store patrons an immortal amount of energy and enthusiasm.

“Our business relies on customer service. We always want to give a little extra. That’s our priority.”

Monetta Farrier Specialties started small, occupying a 400-square-foot building. Today, its product line has expanded to 1,700 items under 2,400 square feet. The company’s innovations include rasp holders, barshoes shoeing rigs and hoofcare products.

The first farrier to cross paths with the exuberant Sarah was her husband Jack. He came from New Orleans by way of Georgia and Tennessee before landing at her father’s place to shoe Sarah’s horse. The two married, had Emily and Nancy and once the girls started school, Sarah launched her business in 1986 with Jack’s help and two farrier suppliers.

Monetta Farrier Specialties host clinics throughout the year because Sarah believes education is important for farriers. Over the years, her family has provided young shoers food and board, and Sarah says she’s even raised a few.

She loves traveling to fish and hunt with Jack, and she fox hunted until she lost her “irreplaceable” horse, Maryland. She values doing nothing, but can’t do nothing so she entertains, volunteers and goes antiquing. Sarah serves on the Mission Council of The Episcopal Church of the Ridge, where she is Senior Warden. She loves chocolate, and fresh asparagus and chicken, hates buying clothes and for the first time in 50 years started using facial soap.
